is a short or long phrase or story the was written to portray a certain meaning by the author or writer. A poem does not always have to rhyme, most modern poems do not rhyme at all. Poems can use imagery phrase to help the reader imagine the setting or event. Imagery can help the topic materialize within the readers mind.
Poetry has a great influence and significance to us today. It can help us see the world in a different perspective in how poetry uses imagery to influence us. Poetry in important to me and my studies because I appreciate poetry in every way, music is poetry put to music. I myself listen to many acoustic song that are mostly words( and not much background music). I also like to read many poems like poems by Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends
The Loser
from the book "Where the Sidewalk Ends" (1974)
Mama said I'd lose my head
if it wasn't fastened on.
Today I guess it wasn't
'cause while playing with my cousin
it fell off and rolled away
and now it's gone.
And I can't look for it
'cause my eyes are in it,
and I can't call to it
'cause my mouth is on it
(couldn't hear me anyway
'cause my ears are on it),
can't even think about it
'cause my brain is in it.
So I guess I'll sit down
on this rock
and rest for just a minute...
