[Imagery] Linx Definition/Example/Significance/Picture

Imagery
My definition of imagery is a phrase or multiple words that the poet uses to help the feeling of the speaker materialize in the reader's mind. there are actually seven different types of imagery. There is #1visual(sight), #2tactile(touch), #3auditory(hearing), #4olfactory(smell), #5gustatory(taste), #6organic(internal sensation), #7kenesthetic(tension or movement).

Example:
#1: The room was dark and iery.
#2: The surface of the table was cold and hard.
#3: She could hear the footsteps of the mysterious person.
#4: She could smell the scent of burning wood.
#5: She could taste the bitterness of the rag.
#6: She could feel the hot knife on her chest , burning.
#7: She could feel the tightness of the straps holding her down.

The significance of imagery is to imerse the reader in the story and influence the reader's mind. Most classic and modern horror books or novels use a great amount of imagery, especially tactile and organic imagery.
